About Myself
I am a student at Huddersfield New College, where I am studying a course in Video Games Development, this portfolio gives an idea of the quality of the work I have produced in the first year of my course. I took up this course as I have always been very passionate about video games, both playing and critiquing them, which led me to become interested in working in the Video Games Industry as I feel there are many problems with the design of some games, and would like to try my hand in creating something of my own.
In my spare time I mostly spend my time playing games and talking about them with my friends, exploring the good and bad elements in games to find out what people like and dislike from games, this will serve me well when I decide to enter the games industry as I will have a good knowledge of the consumer base that I will be marketing towards, knowing what to include and what to remove from the games that I end up creating or giving feedback to the company that I work for.
Whilst studying at college I have gained skills for starting looking towards joining the gaming industry. I have worked with Photoshop and produced some of the work on the home page, I have also experimented with basic levels of AutoCAD Maya, which has taught me skills that I can re-use to create much more advanced and higher quality 3D pieces of work. I am thinking of following my course on to University where I will further expand upon my skills and progress towards getting a position within a company or creating my own indie games to begin making money through producing video games.
Aside from Video Games, I enjoy creating youtube videos to help teach me video editing skills, many of these are from the games that I play as I find that doing something I love inspires me to work harder and perform to a much higher level.

Personal Statement
I am currently studying at Huddersfield New College, I am in the first year of my BTEC Course in Video Games Development which is giving me a good knowledge of media studies as well as computing skills, such as animation, graphical development and website design. In the past I have worked in several different part time jobs as well as work experience from High School. Having some experience in jobs has given me the skills to work under pressure and be organised. The workplaces I have been involved in have given me skills in dealing with the public as well as participating as a team with co-workers.
As I am studying at college, my hours are quite limited for where I can be available to work, however I am looking to be working on Weekends as well as being available on Friday afternoons from 13:45 onwards.
Work Experience
Paperboy at Quix Newsagents, Huddersfield: July 2011 - January 2012
Assistant at Jacobs Engineering Consultancy UK, Leeds Branch: March 2012 - March 2012
General Assistant at Marshmallow Café, Huddersfield.
Responsibilities
Quix Newsagents: Delivered Papers for a period of 6 months to several neighbourhoods (120 Papers a day total). This job ensured I had to be ready at a specific time in a morning otherwise the customers would complain, giving me a sense of pressure to deliver the papers to a deadline.
Jacobs Engineering: I did various work while undergoing my work experience, I undertook several jobs within the different aspects of the company, such as using many different computer software packages, for things such as Graphic design work, Geographical maps and Historical comparisons of environments. Working here gave me a good understanding of what a workplace is like, as well as getting to work with many different people and co-operate within a professional working environment.
Marshmallow Café: I have been a part time member of staff on several occasions at this Café in Marsh, and have recieved praise from customers and co-workers about being friendly as well as making high quality coffee's with little to no experience of using a coffee machine before. I also was expected to ensure that tables were cleared, cleaned and served as customers arrived. I also covered the dish washing to allow the other members of staff to cover the majority of the food and drinks preparation.
Education
GCSE Level Education at Salendine Nook High School: 1 A*, 5 A's and 7 B's.
A Level Education (Ongoing) at Huddersfield New College: Predicted to receive DDD at A Level BTEC Course (Equivalent to 3 A's)
I plan on attending Huddersfield University or Leeds University to continue my ambitions as they are the top universities for the follow up to the course I am taking at College.
Personal Interests
I have a large interest in the world of Video Games, which has led me to take part in a course at College for developing them, as a result of this I have grown interested in using computer software to develop 3D Environments as well as using Adobe Photoshop to create characters and textures among other skills that I have developed. I will also be studying web page development during the course.
I also enjoy the world of music, although I cant play an instrument, I love talking about and sharing music with my friends, and spend some of my time creating playlists of different genre's.
